There’s nothing else on this earth like a healthy church. And God intended for that kind of church to be the main vehicle He uses to draw those who are far from Him back to Him. But for so many people, when they think of church, words come to mind like boring – irrelevant – judgmental – phony. We intend to be a part of changing that perception.
…and we are starting in Chula Vista, California!
Chula Vista is located in South San Diego county about 7 miles from downtown San Diego. With a current population of around 225,000 people and a projected population of over 300,000 in the next 7 to 10 years, Chula Vista is one of the fastest growing cities in America. Although Chula Vista is large and growing, just under 6.5% of its people label themselves as 'practicing' Christians. That means there are a whole lot of people in Chula Vista are living apart from their creator!
Momentum Christian Church launched on October 12, 2008. Momentum is all about helping people know Jesus. We want people to find that the most fulfilling life that can be lived is one marked by love, joy, peace, hope, authenticity and generosity. Simply put, Momentum is just a bunch of ordinary people who want to be really good at loving God and loving people.
This new church plant is a partnership between STADIA, NewThing Network, Mount Pleasant Christian Church, Victor Valley Christian Church, and Legacy Christian Church. The goal? To start a new church in Chula Vista – a multi-staffed, fully functioning, thriving church that will be a catalyst to plant other churches all over the greater San Diego area.
Nearly 2,000 years ago, God set in motion the church as His vehicle to reach the world. We just want to keep the momentum going. We hope you will join us in this great adventure!
